'Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs' 2014 Puts Emphasis on Social Media!




Social Media now plays a vital role in our society. Even the music industry is invaded by it! And because social media is truly in-demand and trending, this year's "Himig Handog" used this as a tool to captivate the hearts of many people in love.

After we witnessed the 15 music videos of "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2014" presented to the media during the grand press conference which took place at ABS-CBN's Dolphy Theater on September 1, 2014, we had observed that many of the songs' theme were pro-social media. We may hear in the lyrics different hashtags, FB status, tweets, and shoutouts often used by netizens. For instance in the song entries like "Walang Basagan ng Trip"  by Jugs and Teddy and "Pumapag-Ibig" by Marion Aunor, they used words and scenes where most of the netizens can relate!

Of course, still the main theme of this song-writing competition is love. They just put love into modern era wherein expressions of love and affections were taking-place either in Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram!

The 15 song entries in this year's competition were performed by the different brightest recording stars of the country. To name some are Jessa Zaragoza who performed "Bumabalik ang Nagdaan," Jed Madela who did "If You Don't Want to Fail," Jovit Baldivino doing "Dito," Bugoy Drilon of "Everything Takes Time," Angeline Quinto of "Hanggan Kailan," and Daniel Padilla who interpreted "Simpleng Tulad Mo."

The heartthrob singer Michael Pangilinan interpreted a controversial song titled "Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako" which deals with homosexual or man-to-man feelings.        

The music videos of the 15 finalists were created by the students from some of the country's prestige universities like Ateneo De Manila, University of Santo Tomas, DLSU-College of Saint Benilde, Colegio De San Juan De Letran, San Sebastian College, St. Paul University,  and University of the Philippines. 

The final night of "Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2014" will be happening on Sunday, September 28, 2014, 7:30pm at the Big Dome with Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Robi Domingo, and Alex Gonzaga as the main hosts. (www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)
